Proverbs 4:22-27 Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health. Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.
Our heart—our feelings of love and desire—dictates to a great extent how we live because we always find time to do what we enjoy. This scripture warns us not to give in to temptation. Sin may satisfy our short-term desires but the long-term consequences of sin can lead to disaster.
STICK WITH THE WINNERS
Proverbs 1:10 says, “If bad companions tempt you, don’t go along with them.”
Matthew 26:41 Stay alert; be in prayer so you don’t wander into temptation without even knowing you’re in danger. There is a part of you that is eager, ready for anything in God. But there’s another part that’s as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire.”
SUBMIT EVERYTHING TO GOD
1 Corinthians 10:13 No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.
