#2072 My Daily Devotions

SerenityIt’s essential to become willing to follow every one of God’s principles. This isn’t natural and has never been your lifestyle. Are you truly willing to change how you deal with circumstances? Your willpower never worked to give up your addiction. Gratitude to God for saving you from the pit of misery will help change your old lifestyle—one of excessive misery. Only when you let go do you allow God to begin his good work in you.
To delay is extremely dangerous, as your lack of character will never sustain your new life in recovery. When you address the defects of your character and ask God to remove them, you’re dealing with them instead of them dealing with you, as they have been for years.

There’s only one thing to change: everything. Anything connected with that old way of life has to go. Shortcuts are nothing but setbacks. This is about going all in, not holding anything in reserve. No more chips in your back pocket in case things don’t work out. Go all the way!

PRAYER Lord, I pray for willingness to go all in. I pray to allow you to begin your good work in me and stay out of your way. Amen.

Bible Reading: John 14:6-10

We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry it out.

Christian people may have condemned us to the point that now we associate Jesus Christ with rejection and disapproval. These images may make us shy away from Jesus as a distinct representative of God. We may feel more comfortable with a nameless higher Power, whose nature is rather vague.

“Jesus shouted to the crowds, ‘If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark’” (John12:44-46). Then he told his disciples, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! . . . The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me” (14:6-7, 10)

Jesus said clearly, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent” (John 6:29). If we accept the Bible at all, we will see that the knowledge of God’s will isn’t vague and mysterious. It starts with believing in Jesus.

cr devotional_new“Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” Matthew 5:37

Remember in grade school when you were passed a note that read, “Do you like me? Check yes or no!” Life is full of questions. How about “Would you like fries with that, sir?” or “Do you want to go ahead and have that tooth filled today?”

Some of life’s questions are big. How we answer them can actually steer our lives down the right path or a completely disastrous one. Consider these life-changing questions:

• Will you believe and receive me as your God and stop playing god in your own life?
• Will you finally believe that you matter to me?
• Will you trust me to help you through anything and everything?
• Will you turn your life over to me?
• Will you do the necessary work to examine your life so that together we can remove your character defects and replace them with truth?
• Will you trust me to heal your heart, so you can forgive those who have wronged you so terribly?
• Will you trust me for the courage to make amends to those you have hurt?
• Will you fully receive my grace in your life?
• Will you spread the Good News to others and serve others daily?

When we are ready to answer “yes” to these questions, God can and will renew, replant, restore, and rebuild our lives into a path of hopefulness, selflessness, service, growth, and truth.

PRAYER Father, I want all my answers to be yes. Thank you for renewing my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen

GOD’S GOT THIS Daily Reflection Cover A5

Psalms 55:22 Turn your worries over to the Lord. He will keep you going. He will never let godly people fall.

No matter what difficulties we are going through God encourages us to keep bringing them to Him.

It still amazes me and sometimes puzzles me that sometimes when I have issues in my life, I try to fix them before talking to God about them. What also puzzles me is how God doesn’t interfere in that process. He allows me to find out for myself I need His help.

One of my favourite expressions is “God’s got this.” I believe it. But because I am human, I still sometimes fix things on my own before talking to God about them. The result is generally failure and a lesson learned in putting my faith more in Him than myself.

– How much do you trust God with the issues that exist in your life?

PRAYER God help me today to know You are my Lord and my Saviour and You have every area of my life in Your control
