HAVING GONE THROUGH THESE STEPS AND DISCOVERING THE IMPORTANCE OF INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD THROUGH JESUS, I WILL TRY TO LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS PRINCIPLES AND TO LEAD OTHERS TO PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
1 Corinthians 15:10 Because God was so gracious, so very generous, here I am.
And I’m not about to let his grace go to waste.
A favourite slogan we hear in recovery is “But for the grace of God.” This phrase has multiple meanings for recovering people. But for the grace of God, we might not have broken out of denial and recognized the gravity of our dependencies. But for the grace of God, we might not have found support groups, Twelve Step recovery organizations, and the church community, which have ministered to our areas of dependency. But for the grace of God we might not have “hit bottom” as a crossroads to propel our lives into a radically new direction. But for the grace of God, we might not have found God and then been reborn to Him.
Step Twelve is a grace-filled step. Having gone through the steps and entering personal relationship with God, we are charged to radiate His grace to those around us as we diligently seek to try and live according to His principles. And, become living testimonies to Paul’s words that “because of God’s grace” we are now at this point in our lives and “we are not about to waste it.”
