#31 Daily Reflection

A New Spirit

John 6:63 The Holy Spirit gives life. The body means nothing at all. The words I have spoken to you are from the Spirit. They give life.

For about 30 years of my life, I suffered from a bad back. A result of an accident when drunk which I never took care of when I got clean. Some days I struggled to even get out of bed.

A few years ago I had a Pastor in healing ministry pray with me for my back and it was fixed. During that prayer session, the Pastor and I discussed healing ministry and the importance of retraining your Spirit to communicate in God’s power to your body. Prior to that, I did not have a lot of faith in physical healing through prayer. The Pastor never knew me. We connected through a friend of my sister-in-law. He called me out of the blue and when he did we discovered he lived five minutes away from my house. On discovery of that fact he said: “I’ll be at your place in five minutes.” We talked, he prayed for me, and with me and on that day I physically felt my body change and heal. From that day until this day I have not experienced pain in my back and I believe God can and does heal through the power of prayer. After praying for me that Pastor left my home and I have not seen or heard from him since. Don’t tell me God doesn’t provide what we need when we need it.

Recovery requires renewal of your spirit in God’s strength and faith that He can and will meet your need, in His time often through the most unexpected methods.

  • Take time to talk to God about the renewal of your spirit.
  • Stop, listen and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading.

Prayer: Lord today help me to train my spirit to speak to my body in your strength so I may be healed.
