#2288 The Knowledge That God Can Rescue Us
May you be made strong with all the strength which comes from his glorious power, so that you may be able to endure everything with patience. And with joy give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to have your share of what God has reserved for his people in the kingdom of light. He rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us safely into the kingdom of his dear Son, by whom we are set free, that is, our sins are forgiven. Colossians 1:11-14
The knowledge that God has the power to rescue us free us up to think more positively about recovery. In the past, we may have been caught up with the thoughts of obstacles to our success. Now, with Jesus Christ as our One True Higher Power, we can be sure of His forgiveness and “endure everything with patience” all that we need to endure to become the people He has rescued us to be.
40 Days of Recovery – Day 2
2 Peter 2:9 God knows how to rescue the godly from evil trials.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he came and set his people free. He set the power of salvation in the center of our lives, and in the very house of David his servant, Just as he promised long ago through the preaching of his holy prophets: Deliverance from our enemies and every hateful hand; Mercy to our fathers, as he remembers to do what he said he’d do, What he swore to our father Abraham– a clean rescue from the enemy camp, So we can worship him without a care in the world, made holy before him as long as we live.
Luke 1:68-75
You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation 2 Corinthians 1:11
God’s plan is that we all experience that rescue. Galatians 1:4
Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you. Psalms 34:17
- God sent Jesus to rescue us from ourselves.
- Our prayers are part of the recovery mission.
- God’s plan for our recovery is successful life transformation.
- God is listening, waiting for us to ask Him too, then He will help.
#34 Daily Reflection
John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me.
In this verse, Jesus talking about Him being the only way to God. I believe He is also the only way to a lasting, growing, spiritual recovery.
Why do I think that? Because I spent the early days of my recovery journey in Alcoholics Anonymous. Learning and trying to apply the Twelve Steps of A.A. to my life. It didn’t work.
It didn’t work till I entered a meeting where they talked about ‘Prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with God.’
I already stated: I have always been a believer but I never had any contact with God and I certainly didn’t have a personal relationship with Him.
Recovery is about getting to know God and His personal plan for you.
- Have you prayed today?
- Have you met Jesus yet?
Prayer: Help me today God to get to know You better.

Can’t get this song out of my head tonight.
Romans 3:4 Depend on it: God keeps his word even when the whole world is lying through its teeth. Scripture says the same: Your words stand fast and true; Rejection doesn’t faze you.
Hebrews 6:17 When God wanted to guarantee his promises, he gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee.
Hebrews 10:23 Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word.

Living Life Recovery is a safe place where people can come, share and investigate the realities of God’s promises for themselves.
We believe that as we investigate God’s promises for our lives and practice the ‘Spiritual Principles of Recovery’ as outlined in ‘God’s Word’ we will find the strength and freedom we need to live productive and peaceful lives.
We welcome anyone who has a sincere desire to change their lives. To rise above the pain and turmoil caused by dependencies and compulsive behaviors their own lives or the lives of a loved one or friend.
Many of us wallow in our pasts and sink easily into the harbour of such memories. Ask forgiveness for allowing these feelings to overcome what you know is your new reality. This episode is also available as a blog post: https://livingliferecovery.com/2022/04/27/thougtfortoday/
