Discovering God’s Purpose

“When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” Jeremiah 29:13-14

Recovery requires a commitment to seeking God and His purpose for our lives.

When I was in rehab in 1989 I had a counsellor who challenged me. What he said was “see that bus out there in the driveway every time it leaves this property make sure you are on it.  If it goes to A.A. you go to A.A. If it goes to church you go to church. If it goes shopping or on an outing, you go shopping or on the outing.” I never understood at the time but what he was saying was “if you don’t get involved your time here is going to drag.” So every time the bus went out I was on it. The result of that was I learned to interact with people I wouldn’t normally interact with. I learned new things about myself and about life.

Discovering God’s purpose involves doing things outside of our comfort zone to experience things we have never experience.

– When was the last time you did something you were uncomfortable with doing to improve your character?
