Step 8
We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing
to make amends to them all

1 John 2:9-11 Anyone who claims to live in God’s light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark. It’s the person who loves brother and sister who dwells in God’s light and doesn’t block the light from others. But whoever hates is still in the dark, stumbles around in the dark, doesn’t know which end is up, blinded by the darkness.

1. What does making amends have to do with “living in the light”?
2. Can we be saved and still live in darkness?
3. How can we be blinded by darkness? How do we come into the light?

LIVING IN THE LIGHT IS ABOUT TELLING THE TRUTH (even when it’s painful)
Job 6:28-29
says “Look me in the eyes! Do you think I’d lie to your face? Think it over–no double-talk! Think carefully–my integrity is on the line!

LIVING IN THE LIGHT IS ABOUT FOLLOWING JESUS (even if we don’t understand)
1 Corinthians 4:5 says Don’t get ahead of the Master and jump to conclusions with your judgments before all the evidence is in. When he comes, he will bring out in the open and place in evidence all kinds of things we never even dreamed of–inner motives and purposes and prayers. Only then will any one of us get to hear the “Well done!” of God.

Step eight assumes we have completed the first seven. We have admitted we are powerless over our problems. accepted there is a God who cares about us. Have given our wills and lives to Him. Accepted His forgiveness and put Him in His rightful place in our lives.
