When are you willing to compromise what you have learned in recovery to save a relationship?
2 Corinthians 6:14-15 Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not a partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands?
As we go through the process of repairing our relationships it is important we do not let those relationships compromise our relationship with God. Doing so may weaken our spiritual commitment and integrity and reduce our standards back to our old way of thinking and acting.
God wants others to see what He is doing in and through our lives and He wants to use that to prompt them to consider a change. They won’t if we lower ourselves to their standards instead of raising our attitudes and behaviours to His and sticking to them.
In recovery, we need to avoid people and places that compromise our recovery.
Prayer: Lord help me to stay true to what You have taught me.
