Through the acknowledgment of God’s supreme power,
I humbly ask Him to help me change my sinful habits and attitudes.
If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. On the other hand, if we admit our sins–make a clean breast of them–he won’t let us down; he’ll be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing. 1 John 1:8-9
None of would voluntarily put our hand up to have surgery. But when it comes to recovery from various types of damning involvements, correction means self-operation. It is in our own hands! By decision, we have to break our old habits. Sheer will-power will take us so far but soul-surgery will take us even further. This is where Jesus has the qualifications to get to the heart of our problems.
We can’t alleviate or kill deep-seated tendencies of the soul which seem to force us into error and hurtful practices. Only Jesus can cleanse our innermost being and operate and operate deep within us to change our character flaws.
IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILTY TO COOPERATE WITH HIM
IT BOILS DOWN TO WILLINGNESS
