Openness To Change

Ephesians 4:23 Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better.

Today I attended Celebrate Recovery Frankston. The lesson for the day was lesson three ‘HOPE’ As I went into small group I realized, and it surprised me. Having lived a life of change since 1989. I am nor really open to change. I like routine and I like things to be organized and regimental.

In Participant Guide 1 of the Celebrate Recovery on this subject is says:

“Throughout our lives, we will continue to encounter hurts and trials that we are powerless to change. With God’s help, we need to be open to allow those trials to change us. To make us better, not bitter.”

In the message Bible, its says of HOPE

Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up. Expect God to get here soon. Wait for God. Wait with hope. Hope now; hope always!

The lines of purpose in your lives never grow slack, tightly tied as they are to your future in heaven, kept taut by hope. The Message is as true among you today as when you first heard it. It doesn’t diminish or weaken over time. When God wanted to guarantee his promises, he gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee– God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us.

Psalms 31:24 ~ Psalms 131:3 ~ Colossians 1:5 ~  Hebrews 6:17-20

2 Corinthians 3:18 says “We all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

I read this tonight “The most important rule for us is to concentrate on keeping our lives open to God. Let everything else be set aside.”

Reflecting on my thoughts of my unopenness to change I am left with the hope found in these verses “You have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 and the promise of Hebrews 6:18 “God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go.” GOD’s GOT THIS! So I will just keep moving forward!
