Colossians 4:2 Pray diligently. Stay alert, with your eyes wide open in gratitude.
THERE IS A PURPOSE TO RECOVERY! And it is outlined in step eleven “To discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it and improve my relationship with Him.”
Psalms 4:3-8 says “Look at this: look Who got picked by God! He listens the split second I call to him. Complain if you must, but don’t lash out. Keep your mouth shut, and let your heart do the talking. Build your case before God and wait for his verdict. Why is everyone hungry for more? “More, more,” they say. “More, more.” I have God’s more-than-enough, More joy in one ordinary day Than they get in all their shopping sprees. At day’s end I’m ready for sound sleep, For you, God, have put my life back together.”
GOD PICKED YOU
God who made you has something to say to you; the God who formed you in the womb wants to help you. Don’t be afraid. Isaiah 44:2
GOD IS INTERESTED IN YOU
When you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’ Isaiah 58:9
GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU
“What’s the price of a pet canary? Some loose change, right? And God cares what happens to it even more than you do. He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail–even numbering the hairs on your head! Matthew 10:29-30
GOD WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU
That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything.
GOD’S TIMING IS PERFECT
“You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business.” Acts 1:7
GOD’S MORE THAT ENOUGH
He said, “Throw the net off the right side of the boat and see what happens.” They did what he said. All of a sudden there were so many fish in it, they weren’t strong enough to pull it in. John 21:6
EVERY DAY IS A GOOD DAY WITH GOD
“I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature.” John 15:11
WE SLEEP BETTER WHEN WE KNOW GOD
“Whatever you do, don’t go to sleep at the switch. Pray constantly that you will have the strength and wits to make it through everything that’s coming and end up on your feet.” Luke 21:36
STEP ELEVEN RECOVERY TOOLS ….
PRAYER Keep company with God, get in on the best. God’s there, listening for all who pray, for all who pray and mean it. Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. Jesus said If you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon.
MEDITATION These are the words in my mouth; these are what I chew on and pray. Accept them when I place them on the morning altar, O God, my Altar-Rock, God, Priest-of-My-Altar. I’ve even become smarter than my teachers since I’ve pondered and absorbed your counsel. I set plainspoken wisdom before you, my heart-seasoned understandings of life.
GOD’S WORD The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God. God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it–no matter what. #StepEleven #Prayer #Meditation #GodsWord
