Does anyone bring a lamp home and put it under a washtub or beneath the bed? Don’t you put it up on a table or on the mantel? It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free–signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going. The words of the wise prod us to live well. They’re like nails hammered home, holding life together. They are given by God, the one Shepherd.
In four weeks I am going on leave from work for three weeks. Someone asked me yesterday “Where are you going?” to which I replied I”I am staying home, doing my own thing with my own people (my wife Karen and our three kids) You see when I work I stay away from home 80% of the time. Karen said she shared that with someone yesterday who said: “that sounds great!” But it isn’t always. I am looking forward to three weeks with no deadlines.
Every year at the end of the year I like to take time to plan the year ahead. At the end of the year, I take inventory of the year past. I don’t always achieve everything I planned to but with the things I don’t, I generally find they are just that little bit closer than they were a year ago. Recovery is about spiritual progress, not spiritual perfection.
2 Corinthians 12:9 says” My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.
As you enter this Christmas season remember IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS! #Perfect #Gift #Progress
