Start With The End In Mind
For many years in recovery, I have witnessed many people come and go. Many have succeeded and many have failed. The reason I believe many people fail is that ‘they don’t plan not to.’
Today’s ‘Discussion Starter’ is all about ‘Starting with the end in mind.’ Asking yourself at the start of 2020, “where do I want to be at the end of this year?”
Read Exodus 40:1-10
I love this Scripture. God not only telling Moses what He wants doing but giving Moses a pictured plan of how things were to be done. From this Scripture, I want to highlight 3 observations the Holy Spirit placed on my heart as I read it and meditated on it.
I. GOD DEFINES WHEN THINGS BEGIN
Exodus 40:1-2 The Lord said to Moses, “Set up the holy tent, the Tent of Meeting. Set it up on the first day of the first month.“
– The first day of the first month suggests that it is good to begin each year with some well-planned work.
II. GOD DEFINES WHAT IS IMPORTANT
Exodus 40:9 “Set apart the holy tent and everything that belongs to it. Then it will be holy.”
This verse teaches me I can’t live however I please, ignoring what God has done for me.
III. GOD IS INVOLVED IN EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN OUR LIVES
Exodus 40:38 The cloud of the Lord was above the holy tent during the day. The fire was in the cloud at night. The whole community of Israel could see the cloud during all of their travels.
I can’t twist God’s Word to suit myself. God has a plan for me and a plan for you. His plan includes our recovery. The process is already lined out for each of us. What we need to do is take time to learn God’s plan for us. Seek His guidance on how He was us to achieve it and faithfully obey all He has predetermined for us. Even when we don’t understand it.
1 Corinthians 6:19
1 Corinthians 6:9
2 Corinthians 4:2
