Isaiah 41:10 Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.
I have watched more people walk
away from recovery than have
completed it, all because of ‘fear of
the unknown’
We have all heard the saying “It’s
better the devil you know’ Today, I
want to tell you it isn’t! Recovery can be scary and sometimes thankless process. From my own experience of many years of recovery I want to tell
you ”It is always worth it.”
If you are in recovery and struggling, I want to urge you today ‘Do not quit’ The smallest step in the recovery process is still a step in the right direction. A slogan I heard many years ago in recovery says, “You only fail when you stop trying.” So today just keep moving forward and I promise you – IT WILL GET BETTER

BE STRONG IN THE LORD
Light, space, zest– that’s God! So,
with him on my side I’m fearless,
afraid of no one and nothing. Psalm 27:1
GOD IS READY TO HELP
We can boldly quote, God is there,
ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?Hebrews 13:6
GOD LOVES YOU
There is no room in love for fear. Wellformed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life–fear of death, fear of judgment–is one not yet fully formed in love. 1 John 4:18
Prayer: Lord help me today to ‘Keep Moving Forward’ with Your Help, in Your strength and Your timing.
Psalms 23:2 You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from.
It’s good to be alive, to feel the sun on rain on your face. Sure, we still have some ‘bad days’ but on the whole life without hangovers, feeling guilty and waking up sick is terrific. Peace of mind and a clear conscience are more important than passing pleasure and personal gain.
When I look back on my life honestly I have to admit there were times I ‘enjoyed what wasn’t good for me.’ When I first started using alcohol and drugs they brought me a certain amount of pleasure. But, as time went on I realized they were costing me a great deal more than money.
Many years in recovery fellowship groups, discussing the past has brought almost unanimous agreement substance abuse robs us of vision, appreciation, and enjoyment. There was no time in our pasts for relaxation and meditation. The beauty of God and His creation was beyond our comprehension. Laying down our lives to Him brings with it a new calm, composure, and contentment.
It is only through a right relationship with God I have learned to enjoy life to the full. In following Him ‘He has bedded me down in lush meadows and brought me quiet’
COMPOSURE
Jesus said, “I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
CONTENTMENT
Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” Hebrews 13:5
CONFIDENCE
May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! Romans 15:13
When we depend on our circumstances for our contentment, we become unhappy when things don’t go our way. When we depend on Jesus for our contentment, we are secure because he will never fail us.
The greatest consequence of sin is death, which leads to eternal separation from God.
Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master. Romans 6:23

Prayer: I pray that I will maintain a right relationship with Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit and enjoy the lush meadows He leads me through.
