Luke 18:17 Mark this: “Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”
There have been many occasions in the past where we have been ‘childish’ but not ‘child-like’ Childish in stubbornness, foolishness, and destructiveness. Often under the influence of alcohol or another drug or, craving for them. When we look back, we can see much of our behavior and thinking was anything but ‘adult’ Our cations were often the opposite of what comes to mind when we think of a “little child’ Sobriety was our first step in growing up.
Sobriety requires keeping a childlike attitude of simplicity, trust and learning. The Bible says “God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love–like Christ in everything.” Ephesians 4:15 No one ever reaches full maturity this side of heaven. We are not to be childish but child-like in discovering the reality of God’s promises in our lives.
Although I am an adult and try to behave grown up. When it comes to my faith I want to be child-like. To accept God as my heavenly Father who loves and cares for me. It is only in learning to trust Him I learn to trust myself and others. It is really something to be a CHILD OF GOD.
SPIRITUAL MATURITY IS FOUND IN GOD
Like infants at the breast, drink deep of God’s pure kindness. Then you’ll grow up mature and whole in God. 1 Peter 2:2
WATCH AND LEARN
Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. Ephesians 5:1-2
LISTEN AND OBEY
God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Hebrews 4:12
Prayer: I pray that I may have faith as a little child and God’s kingdom will come into my life.
