Unbuckled Guilt

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him”. John 3:16-18

When we look back on our lives, we remember the many things that could have brought God’s condemnation upon us. We have often failed to live out our best intentions let alone God’s expectations of us. As we look back, we can see the things that caused us to fail. Through the process of recovery, we want to be rid of those things. We want to be able to accept God’s forgiveness for our past sins and failures. We want to live in the knowledge that He does not condemn us.

My faith in God’s forgiveness of my past sins gives me a ‘sense of freedom’ Before I accepted Jesus Christ as my One True Higher Power, I was always conscious of my guilt. Sure, that sooner or later I would have to pay for my wrongdoing. Today I know my sin and my guilt has been taken away through His precious blood. My peace of heart and mind dependend on walking daily with Him. Safe in His forgiveness, without condemnation.

It is necessary for me to believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I can take to heart the promises, and be relieved of so much that used to bother me. Romans 8:1 With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud.

Now in a single victorious stroke of Life, -sin, guilt, death–are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God! 1 Corinthians 15:57

Now is the time to forgive this man and help him back on his feet. If all you do is pour on the guilt, you could very well drown him in it. My counsel now is to pour on the love. 2 Corinthians 2:7-8

If Christ wasn’t raised, then all you’re doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever.
1 Corinthians 15:17
