Morning Harmony #27

Climb Every Mountain

Joshua 14:12 Give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke.

We need to chart a course which includes mountains. Our vision needs to include hazardous climbs. Mental acclimatization will be required. Diving power is a necessary motivation that demands total commitment in order for God to equip us to rise to new heights.

One of the first saying I learned and adopted in recovery way back in 1987 was a quote for Denis Waitley’s ‘Psychology of Winning.’ which says “A goal should be just out of reach but not our of sight.” We need to be able to see what we are aiming at without setting the goal to low. Setting ourselves new mountains to negotiate is really establishing new heights waiting to be conquered.

We all need to become familiar with the peaks and troughs of recovery. each of us facing struggles, challenges and adventures as we learn and adapt to this new way of living. In Luke 17:19 Jesus said , “Get up. On your way. Your faith has healed and saved you.” The most difficult assignment on the road to recovery is taking the first step to climbing the mountain in faith. Have you taken the first step yet?

If God is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land that flows, as they say, with milk and honey. And he’ll give it to us. Just don’t rebel against God! And don’t be afraid of those people. In God we’ll do our very best; he’ll flatten the opposition for good.

With God on our side like this, how can we lose? You come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for the Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world.

“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.” ― Barry Finlay

“Getting to the top has an unfortunate tendency to persuade people that the system is OK after all.” ― Alain de Botton
