“We are unfit to worship you; each of our good deeds is merely a filthy rag. We dry up like leaves; our sins are storm winds sweeping us away.” Isaiah 64:6
I am sure all of us, at some point in our lives have experienced ‘denial’ Times where we have been unable or unwilling to admit we got it wrong. One of the hardest things any of us has to accept in the process of recovery is admitting and accepting “I was wrong.” In fact we have often gone to extraordinary lengths to avoid it.
Using a wide variety of diversion tactics, making excuses, making comparisons, blaming others, justifying why we acted how we did just to name a few.
The Bible is quick to point out all of these tactics are a result of ‘pride’ James 4:6 tells us God goes against the wilfully proud and gives grace to the humble. Refusing to admit and accept when we are wrong is very dangerous in recovery. It can lead to ‘relapse’
So today we have a choice. We can be proud and refuse God’s existence. We can accept He exists and continue to oppose Him. Or we can own up to getting it wrong on our own, ‘BELIEVE’ that God exists, He cares about us and He can help us recover.
“This is God’s work. We rub our eyes—we can hardly believe it!” Psalms 118:23
“He’s famous for great and unexpected acts; there’s no end to his surprises.” Job 5:9
“Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out.” Romans 11:33
“Take in with all Christians the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights!” Ephesians 3:18
#Admit #Accept. #Believe
Prayer: Lord help me today to admit I can’t do this on my own and accept Your help by placing my faith in You.
