Ezekiel 11:19 I’ll give you a new heart. I’ll put a new spirit in you. I’ll cut out your stone heart and replace it with a red-blooded, firm-muscled heart.
It is normal to welcome good news. Only abnormal, mentally unbalanced people fail to be affected by something good that is announced or addressed for their benefit.
God could offer nothing more startling, exciting and far reaching that His personal desire to ‘put a new spirit within’ any willing heart. What a great gesture? What a marvelous plan? Why is it then so many of us refuse His offer? God has taken the initiative – the offer still stand! Will you take up the offer?
We must first of all consider ourselves unworthy, then count the cost of handing over everything – our past – our present – our future. Are we willing to be specific in naming our sins? Are we ready to come to God in simple prayer? Setting in motion the kind of change that is pre-requisite for wonder-working God to “Put a new Spirit within.”
God is always waiting and willing. ARE WE?
What The Bible Says
Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ–eternal and glorious plans they are!–will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. 1 Peter 5:7-11
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. Philippians 4:6-7
