I’ll Not Turn Back
STEP TWELVE says “Having gone through these steps and discovering the importance of an individual relationship with God through Jesus, I will try to live according to His principles and to lead others to a personal relationship with Him.”
I love God and I am passionate about recovery. I wish I could give to others what I have received from the Holy Spirit, but I can’t! You need to find it for yourself and you find it through a personal relationship with Him. Step 11 in the AA Twelve Steps says “We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God. Praying only for knowledge of His will for our lives and the power to carry it out.” Since 1987 when I entered my first rehab in Perth Western Australia I believe God has called me to introduce others to Him through the Twelve Steps and recovery fellowships. To that end, I have led and commenced meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous, Alcoholics Victorious, Overcomers Outreach, Celebrate Recovery and Living Life Recovery. I believe through each God has made a difference in my life and in the lives of others through me. But I also believe God called me in 2005 to ‘Be different and Make a difference.’
In 2019 the Holy Spirit prompted me to ‘Stop leading recovery meetings.’ I did and because of my previous experience in Celebrate Recovery, I contacted Penny Street and asked if there was a CR group near my home I could attend, not lead. She suggested CR Knox and I started attending. Through CR Knox I learned of other CR Groups starting, developing and growing in Victoria, A number of which I have had the privilege of attending and participating in. God is good! Since 2005 till today I have prayed for CR to develop in Victoria as I believe it is a Life Transforming, progressive program of recovery unlike any other currently running across the world. However, I have also felt after taking a year away from leading recovery groups the Holy Spirit is again calling me to ‘Be different and Make a difference.’ and I don’t believe it is through CR.
By way of this post, I am asking for your prayer support, that God will open a door no-one can close in my life as I seek to find and to do His will as I move forward in His strength to lead others to a personal relationship with Him through the Twelve Steps. #ChurchForPeopleWithAddictions
