Psalms 23:4 Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd’s crook makes me feel secure.
When we were living irresponsibly, we often put our lives in danger, particularly when under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. At other time we experienced unexplainable fears and anxiety we were powerless to escape. Like many other people we tried to find release by using our favorite drug of choice. When we first entered recovery our fears and anxieties remained. Only brought under control when we allowed God to lead us.
Over the years I have lived in circumstances and through experiences that made me afraid. At those times alcohol and drugs helped to forget my fears but they did not remove them. When I finally decided to invite Jesus Christ to be my One True Higher Power.
When I started applying the Twelve Steps to my daily living I found God removing all my emotional fears. With Him leading “even when the way goes through Death Valley.” I am secure and certain that He will take care of me.
RECOVERY COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITY
Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status.
WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WE SAY if you choose to speak, you’re also responsible for how and when you speak.
WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WE DO Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. In fact, if you know the right thing to do and don’t do it, that, for you, is evil.
WE ARE NOT RESPONSBLE FOR WHAT OTHERS DO I am not a responsible for what outsiders do
WE NEED TO STAY ALERT AT ALL TIMES Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities!
