Badness to Goodness
Hebrews 1:2 By his Son, God created the world in the beginning, and it will all belong to the Son at the end.
A common error when it comes to Christianity is people think it is a recipe for being good, that is primary purpose to to tell us how to improve ourselves. It isn’t! Christianity is a story – of what God has done about our sin and by His Spirit is still doing.
Jesus put it this way “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Matthew 9:13 Three times the New Testament emphasises it. The sin and death problem met head on at Calvary. Jesus died for sinners and won the battle. But He has to win the battle for our lives by our willingness. No excuses or indifference or resorting to our old ways. No hiding behind lies, no blaming others. The only goodness we attain is produced by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in and through our lives.
It is required of each of us to have the bad within dealt with. It must always precede the inflow of goodness from God. Jesus said John 15:5 “without Me you can do nothing.” He alone is the answer to our badness and our goodness. Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like someone who is “unclean.” All of the good things we do are like polluted rags to you. All of us are like leaves that have dried up. Our sins sweep us away like the wind.
Prayer: Teach me to approach You first, acknowledging my sinfulness, seeking Your forgiveness and Your cleansing through the blood shed for me for remission of my sin
