HOW ARE YOU DONG?
We need to break ties with the people who drink like we used to drink, use drugs like we used to use drugs, and live like we use to live

In recovery through making a conscious decision to let God help us change God has declared us not guilty.
Matthew 22: 37-40 Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
When we turn around from a past of disillusionment to attempt living our lives different tnah we have before it is not going to be easy. Our self-confidence will be shattered if we think it will be. The world at large is not going to pat us on the back for restructuring our lives. We will run into many trials. Trials that w ill distress us and cause us much sorrow. We may be tempted to think to ourselves “why am I even bothering?” “What us is recovery to me anyway? The one attractive thing amidst our confuion and turmoil being Jesus Christ. He alone engenders faith, as He summons us to keep turning our lives over to His care and control. He has overcome the world, and He invites us to to participate in His victory and allow Hi to be our ‘One True Higher Power.’
1 Peter 3:10 Scripture says, “Do you want to love life and see good days? Then keep your tongues from speaking evil. Keep your lips from telling lies.”
Because God is watching and listening to our recovery He will take care of us when we do the right thing. He wants us to the right thing all of the time but He also knows because we are human we won’t always do the right thing.
He also wants us to do what He considers the right thing, not what we consider to be the right thing. We learn what God thinks is the right thing through reading His Word. We also know what God considers to be the right thing through our consciences.
All of us have a God- built system of knowing what is right and what is wrong but we need to pay attention to it.
– When have You done what God wanted instead of what you wanted because it was the right thing to do?
Prayer: God help me to see and do the right thing in every situation I find myself in today.
God transforms our suffering into success.
Habitually we are not willing to admit our faults, let alone put them on paper where other people may discover them. Nor are we willing to go to someone and admit where we were wrong and what we aim to about fixing it.
Do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.
When things go wrong, we tend to blame others or our circumstances.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be joined to unbelievers. What do right and wrong have in common? Can light and darkness be friends?
As we go through the process of repairing our relationships it is important we do not let those relationships compromise our relationship with God. Doing so may weaken our spiritual commitment and integrity and reduce our standards back to our old way of thinking and acting.
God wants others to see what He is doing in and through our lives and He wants to use that to prompt them to consider a change. They won’t if we lower ourselves to their standards instead of raising our attitudes and behaviors to His and sticking to them.
In recovery, we need to avoid people and places that compromise our recovery.
Help me to refuse the low and vulgar things; help me to abhor all crooked deals of every kind, to have no part in them. I will reject all selfishness and stay away from every evil. I will not tolerate anyone who secretly slanders his neighbors; I will not permit conceit and pride. Psalms 101:3-5
Let everything you do reflect your love of the truth and the fact that you are in dead earnest about it. Titus 2:7
Don’t let anyone think little of you because you are young. Be their ideal; let them follow the way you teach and live; be a pattern for them in your love, your faith, and your clean thoughts. 1 Timothy 4:12
I want you always to see clearly the difference between right and wrong, and to be inwardly clean, no one being able to criticize you from now until our Lord returns. Philippians 1:10
