Stop Making Excuses

We rationalize our sinful habits through:

Lacking self-confidence
Exodus 4:10 Moses pleaded, “Lord, I’m just not a good speaker. I never have been, and I’m not now, even after
you have spoken to me, for I have a speech impediment.”

Covering up our faults
Genesis 4:9 The Lord asked Cain, “Where is your brother? Where is Abel?” “How should I know?” Cain retorted.
“Am I supposed to keep track of him wherever he goes?”

Trying to appear better than we are
Titus 3:5 God saved us—not because we were good enough to be saved but because of his kindness and pity
—by washing away our sins and giving us the new joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Being Lazy
Proverbs 22:13 The lazy man is full of excuses. “I can’t go to work!” he says. “If I go outside, I might meet a lion in the
street and be killed!”


Lacking Commitment
Luke 9:59-62 When Jesus invited a man to come with him and to be his disciple, the man agreed—but wanted to until his father’s death. Jesus replied, “Let those without eternal life concern themselves with things like that. Your duty is to come and preach the coming of the Kingdom of God to all the world.” Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will come, but first let me ask permission of those at home.” But Jesus told him, “Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Willingness to let God change you requires from today we need to:

  1. Stop Making excuses
  2. Start setting some goals for our lives
  3. 3.Create a daily routine that includes God
