STEP SEVEN: WE HUMBLY ASKED GOD TO REMOVE OUR SHORTCOMINGS
Psalm 69:32 The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.
Believers learn how to walk in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. They long to deliver God’s gift in person and watch others grow stronger right before their eyes. They welcome the help of others in carrying out assignments God has given them. They like to reassure one another with the Words of God. Daily, they enjoy keeping each other on their toes so sin doesn’t slow down their Spiritual growth.
When in humility we ask God to help us become the people He is calling us to be we find changes in our character we could never have imagined or achieved in our own strength. Learning to let the Holy Spirit lead in our lives is a learned process. It doesn’t happen overnight, the people we are becoming foreigners to ourselves. We are often suspicious when others offer to help us in the process. Or, worse still offer to let us help us to help them in the process of ministry to those who are still suffering the negative effects of their addictions and compuslions.
An important part of the recovery process is finding an Accountability Patrner. Someone with whom you will share the truth. And, give permission to challenge you, correct you and chastise you God said in Genesis 2:18 “It isn’t good for man to be alone.” In Step Seven, if you haven’t already it is time to find an Accountability Partner. Can’t find one? HAve you spoken to God about it?
