Repeat these basic essentials over and over to God’s people. Warn them before God against pious nitpicking, which chips away at the faith. It just wears everyone out. Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple. Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul. #LIvingLifeRecovery #Truth #RightLivingTweet
Whenever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throatsTweet
We can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands firsTweet
“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
What should we seek? God-reality, God-I initiative, God-provision.
How should we seek it? Giving all our attention to what God is doing.
When should we seek it? NOW!
What can we expect if we do? God will help us cope with whatever comes our way.
This scripture encourages us to stop worrying about our concerns being met. We need to learn to put our faith more and more in Gods hands through trusting Him, listening to Him and focusing on what He wants, not what we want.
Peace in our lives is also a product of our obedience to God.
Spent the day today creating 1st of 7 Living Life Recovery Curriculum Workbooks. Been on the cards for a while but just haven’t got to it. 6 more to go.
“The wise accumulate knowledge—a true treasure; know-it-alls talk too much—a sheer waste.” Proverbs 10:14
There are times in all our lives when we say things without thinking. Embarrassing things, that we wish immediately we can take back. Alcohol and drugs seem to inflame our vocabulary. “The wise accumulate knowledge” Proverbs 10:19 says “The more talk, the less truth.” The trouble for most of us is when we should speak up, we don’t. My Mum used to say to me “you’ve got a good Scots tongue in you mouth, use it.” In my working life I had a boss who used to say to me “you know more about this thank anyone else in the meeting but you don’t speak up.”
Learning the art of when to speak up and the right thing to say and when to say nothing is a lifetime process. Self-control requires restraint, even with our words. We can refrain from saying the wrong thing by allowing God to teach us when to speak up and when to be silent.
Jesus spoke with authority, but lovingly. One of my favourite saying in life is ‘talk about what you know and you will know what you are talking about.’ Another is ‘ If you can’t make a difference, don’t make a fuss.’
Speaking the truth with conviction is impressive. What we say reveals what we are, who we are and what we know. Taming our tongues requires divine intervention sometimes.
Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you. Everything I say is right, for I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception. My advice is wholesome. There is nothing devious or crooked in it. My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge. Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold. Proverbs 8:6-10
Understanding what God is saying to us is important because what He is saying to you isn’t necessarily what He is saying to me. God is a personal God, He knows us all individually. He has a plan for us all individually. For some of us that may be something that has never been seen or done before. He created us in His image, yet He created us all individually.
He speaks plainly to us all (if we are willing to listen) and what He has to say to us individually is more valuable than anything we can ever come up with in our own strength or from a group. But, He may use someone in a group to give us the message He wants us to hear.
Having a Sponsor and/or a mentor in recovery is an important part of the process. They make us look at life from a different perspective and give us insights into the life we have not yet discovered or tried to apply to our daily living.
Pray today that God will show you the individual or individuals in your life He has chosen to help you on the road to recovery and changed life. And, ask Him to give you the courage and strength you need to approach them and ask them to walk with you, support and guide you as you walk the path God has prepared for you.
Just for today open your mind to the opportunities God has prepared for you and to the inclusion of the people He has chaosen to walk with you.
Deuteronomy 31:8 “God is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.”
GOD CAN HELP US TO OVERCOME INTIMIDATION
This is the family tree of the human race: When God created the human race, he made it godlike, with a nature akin to God. Genesis 5:1
GOD DOESN’T FORGET US WHEN WE ARE INTIMIDATED
God said, “I am the God of your father. Don’t be afraid of …………. I’m going to make you a great nation there.
WE DON’T NEED TO BE INTIMIDATED
Unfazed by rumor and gossip, Heart ready, trusting in God, Spirit firm, unperturbed, Ever blessed, relaxed among enemies, Psalm 112:7-8
GOD WILL EMPOWER US WHEN WE RELY ON HIM
God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains. Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God of angel armies protects us. Psalm 46:1-3
