There are a lot of people around who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong, but there aren’t many fathers willing to take the time and effort to help you grow up. 1 Corinthians 4:15
It is Father’s day here in Australia. And I am a father. Am I a good father? You would need to ask my three children, Duncan, Mitchell, and Ashleigh that. In my defense, they have all grown up to be healthy adults. Have all attended university and been given the opportunity to become responsible adults.
Growing up I didn’t have good role models as a father. My Mum and Dad separated when I was young. My last memory of my father, (he came to Australia with cancer, where he died in 1987) My step-father was the most violent and uncaring man I have ever known in my life.
It wasn’t till 1989 when I gave my life over to the care of God I understood about having a loving father and all it involved, both from His perspective and mine.
Today I want to wish all fathers a happy fathers day and thank my heavenly father for the three fantastic children He has given me. Being there father has both been a joy and an education and would have been impossible from my starting point without God’s help.
