Day: 2 January 2022

2022 | Day Two | Discussion Starter

In one way or another, God makes sure that we all experience what it means to be outside so that he can personally open the door and welcome us back in. Romans 11:32

God gave us all free will. Even though He knew the mistakes we were all going to make. The addictions and compulsions we were all going to fall for He let us make our own choices.

God also gives us all the opportunity to rectify our mistakes. Jesus came to save sinners. God’s opportunity for us to be reunited with Him. To live our lives according to His purpose.

One of the hardest things for any of us to do is admit failure.

The ‘Good News’ is we are now in a place where everyone is on the same page and we are all aiming for the same goal ‘recovery from the pain our problems have caused us through our bad choices.’

None of us is good enough to achieve recovery on our own. The Bible tells us that. We all need God’s help and we all need each other.

We are all in recovery because of the opportunity Christ presented via the cross and the involvement of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives.

Prayer: Today God I commit to looking out for the opportunities You present, especially when I am struggling seek out someone to share it with.

2022 | Day Two | Morning Harmony

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance. Why didn’t I listen to my mentors, or take my teachers seriously? In prayer, there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part. If you stop your ears to the cries of the poor, your cries will go unheard, unanswered. God says I’m ready to pour out my spirit on you; I’m ready to tell you all I know. Are you listening?

Paying attention to what the Bible says is important. It is our guidebook to right-living. In my life, through my spiritual walk, God has given me strong men of faith as my mentors. Sometimes I didn’t listen to them. Or, I listened and did what I intended to do anyway. It still amazes me when things occur in my life and I remember things they said, the advice they suggested that I failed to take notice of or act on at the time. God knows what he is doing! When He puts people in our lives to guide us and mentor us they are the right people – God-appointed people.

As you go through the process of recovery and God introduces you to people further down the spiritual path than you are, don’t ignore them. Listen, learn and apply what you learn from them. It will save you a lot of time and heartache.

Teach me today Lord to identify the people you bring into my life as advisers and counselors. Make me listen to them and apply the lessons You have given them for me.

2022 | Day Two | Verse for Today

The Bible suggests many valuable principles we have lacked in our addictions and compulsions. The Word of God prompts us to take inventory of our character and behavior. Counsel and instruction are two different things. counsel is advice on how we should live, Instruction is how we should apply what we have learned.

I have known a number of people throughout my spiritual walk who know the Bible better than I do. And, who knows the Twelve Steps better than I. Some of them have failed to apply the advice they have been given, become complacent in their own understanding, and fallen in a heap. we have all heard stories of people who have left recovery ‘before the miracle happens.’ My hope for 2022 is that people engaged with Living Life Recovery will stick around long enough and take in enough of what they read and hear here to let God do what He wants to do in their lives.
