2022 | Day Three | Discussion Starter

Handling Differences

Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure.

                                                                                    2 Corinthians 13:11

Live in harmony. God wants us to get along. Healing comes when we accept each other’s differences. Healing and refreshment bring us together as a community.

Proverbs 17:14 says “The start of a quarrel is like a leak in a dam, so stop it before it bursts.”

Arguing over differences of opinion usually does more harm than good. Talking about our differences can become part of the solution, Too often we keep things to ourselves that should be shared to clear the air.

1 Corinthians 1:10 says “You must get along with each other. You must learn to be considerate of one another, cultivating a life in common.”

God brings to recovery people from all walks of life. He unites them through the Holy Spirit. Disagreement in life will come. The way to combat them is to talk them out.

Progress in rebuilding relationships is usually a result of settling differences. If we all thought and acted the same all the time there would be no ‘Spiritual Growth’

Prayer: Just for today let me get along with those you put on my path. Help me to understand their differences and talk about what bothers me

2022 | Day Three | Morning Harmony

God is singular and sovereign. Who can argue with Him? He does what He wants, when He wants, how He wants. If He tears something down it can’t be rebuilt. If He locks people, they’re locked up for good. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And, not only for us. for everyone who believes in Him. There is no difference between us and them. David confirms this way of looking at life. Saying that “the one who trusts God to do the putting-everything-right without insisting on having a say in it is one fortunate man.” How blessed is God! What a blessing He is to us! Father of Jesus Christ who takes us to high places of blessing in Him.

“If you obey all of my commandments, I will give you regular rains, and the land will yield bumper crops, and the trees will be loaded with fruit long after the normal time! And grapes will still be ripening when sowing time comes again. You shall eat your fill, and live safely in the land,Leviticus 26:3-5

  • “ALL MY COMMANDS” not just the ones you are comfortable with. God demnds 100% commitment in every area of our lives.

sPIRITUAL GROWTH is our greatest blessing
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Ephesians 1:3

  • Unity pleases God. None of us were created to live in isolation. Seeking God is essential in the recovery process. Fod’s love should be evident in our lives and a clear sign of our unity with Him, leding to unity with others.

Whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action. James 1:25

  • The Bible is true, perfect and ever lasting. It gives us wisdom and truth – about God, ourselves and living life aligned to His will. It is God inspired, judges our lives and helps us to grow spiritually. “That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”

How blessed is God! What a blessing He is to us!
Father of Jesus Christ who takes us to high places of blessing in Him

2022 | Day Three | Verse for Today

Verse for Today: Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. James 1:17

The Bible often compares goodness with light and evil with darkness:

Light, space, zest— that’s God! So, with him on my side, I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing. Psalms 27:1

You’ll have no more need of the sun by day nor the brightness of the moon at night. God will be your eternal light, your God will bathe you in splendor. Your sun will never go down, your moon will never fade. I will be your eternal light. Your days of grieving are over. All your people will live right and well, in permanent possession of the land. They’re the green shoot that I planted, planted with my own hands to display my glory. The runt will become a great tribe, the weakling become a strong nation. I am God. At the right time, I’ll make it happen.” Isaiah 60:19-22

The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one. Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!— came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out. John 1:1-5

God will protect us in times of fear. He has not forgotten us. Fearlessness should be a direct of knowing He has got this! Knowledge of His love for us should be enough in our lives to drive out any doubt and fear we may have. 1 John 4:18 says There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love. Are you still afraid of the recovery process? Do you doubt God loves you?

I have shared before, and share again. The greatest throw-away line in a message I ever heard was T.D. Jakes who said: “What if God wants to do something totally different? and, He wants to do it through you!” ARE YOU READY?
