You’ve come to Jesus, who presents us with a new covenant, a fresh charter from God. He is the Mediator of this covenant. The murder of Jesus, unlike Abel’s—a homicide that cried out for vengeance—became a proclamation of grace. Hebrews 12:24
OBEDIENCE TO GOD IS AN ACT OF FAITH it is proof that we believe what He says and will do what He says when He says
Hebrews 11:8 By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going.
In 1988 following a relapse in my recovery God spoke to me and said “Archie if you want to achieve lasting recovery and keep it you will need to leave Western Australia” By an act of faith I left western Australia, got on a bus, and went to South Australia. I spent the first two nights sleeping on the street in Adelaide. On the third day I rang AA because I had no one else in SA I could ring. AA suggested I go to the Salvation Army William Booth Men’s Hostel. When I got there the hostel was full so they suggested I go to St Luke’s and come back the next day. I did and entered the William Booth Men’s Hostel where I believe my journey of recovery began. It wasn’t an easy road, many things happened before I ended up in the Salvation Army’s Bridge Programme in Mount Barker. But that act of faith changed my life. Prior to that, I had no relationship with God but I knew it was Him, and funnily enough, I knew from that day I would be okay because he was looking after me.
God gave me a fresh charter for my life. I had no idea where I was going or what I was going to do. All I knew was I heard His voice and did what He told me to do. His proclamation of grace in my life has kept me on the road to recovery ever since, Today I am a grateful believer. He leads I follow but that is a story for another time.
