2022 | Day Seven | Discussion Starter

I pulled you in from all over the world, called you in from every dark corner of the earth, Telling you, ‘You’re my servant, serving on my side. I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you.’ Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. Isaiah 41:9-10

I have watched more people walk away from recovery than have completed it, all because of ‘fear of the unknown.’

We have all heard the saying ‘it’s better the devil you know.’

I want to tell you it isn’t. Recovery is a scary and sometimes thankless process. I want to tell you today, having spent many years in recovery. It is worth it.

Do not quit! The smallest step forward is still a step in the right direction. I heard many years ago the slogan: ‘You only fail when you stop trying’ So just keep moving forward and I promise you – It will get better.

  • In what ways has your recovery been worth it?

Prayer: just for today Lord help me today to keep moving forward.

Study God and his strength, seek his presence day and night 1 Chronicles 16:11

Let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time. we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Galatians 6:9

Rely on the Power of the Holy Spirit :
Prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:18

2022 | Day Seven | Verse for Today

Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good; God probes for what is good. Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place. God made everything with a place and purpose; even the wicked are included—but for judgment. God can’t stomach arrogance or pretense; believe me, he’ll put those upstarts in their place. Guilt is banished through love and truth; When God approves of your life, even your enemies will end up shaking your hand. Proverbs 16:2-7

Rough enough is good enough! I used to say it all the time. Coming to recovery has changed my approach to the things I do and say. Some of you may have noticed sometimes posts go up on this website with mistakes. And, when I notice them are changed, None of us are perfect, we make mistakes. I had a boss once who said to me “Don’t come into my office with problems. I have heaps of problems. Come in with solutions.” So before taking anything to him I made sure I had thouht of two or three possible solutions and we decided together the way forward.

  • God probes for waht is good and He expects us to look for solutions with which we can work together to move forward.
  • God can’t stomach pretence there is saying in A.A. fake it till you make it. Which I disagree with I don’t think God wants any of us to pretend everything is okay if it isn’t. The Twelve steps encourage us to find our problems – face our problems and – fix our problems with God’s help. We can’t do that by saying everything is okay when it isn’t.
  • Put God in charge guilt is banished through love and truth. To overcome the guilt associated with our character defects, mistakes and problems we need help. Human help we have tried and it hasn’t worked. So we need God’s help and the only way God will hellp is when we put Him in His rightful place of our recovery process.
