Day: 10 January 2022

2022 | Day Ten | Discussion Starter

All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally. I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and, then missing out myself. 1 Corinthians 9:25-27

How are you traveling? Are you feeling good about your progress in the recovery process? So often people get into recovery, get a few rungs up the ladder, and want to tell everybody how it’s done. Recovery is full of experts. And, some people who do this crash because they spent so much time on other people’s recovery and not enough on their own.

I have heard it said so many times, “if you don’t go to meetings you are going to relapse!” And, I agree with that. The Church is not a substitute for recovery meetings. Most people in the Church are either in need of recovery or, in recovery from my own personal experience. When asked about attending recovery meetings many will say “that’s for THOSE PEOPLE, and IAM NOT LIKE THEM!” When I hear people respond in that way, my response is usually “YET”

It says in the scripture above “ALL good athletes train hard!” The prize in the recovery process is TRANSFORMED LIFE. It is achieved through spiritual growth, which is achieved by daily prayer, reading the Bible, Meditating of it. Seeking daily the will of God for your life and His power to catty out His will.

Before offering to help others – CHECK YOURSELF!

Prayer: Just for today Lord I thank You for all You have done in and through me up to now in my recovery progress. I also thank You for what You are going to do as I put my faith in You, Seek Your will and Your power.

Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion. Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! 1 Timothy 4:7

God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training. Hebrews 12:7

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness. 1 Timothy 4:7 ESV

2022 | Day 10 | Morning Harmony

If we are God-created, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to think we could create a god as we understand Him, does it? The unknown is now known. In the generations before us, God let all the different nations go their own way, but even then He didn’t leave them without a clue. The basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see. We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. God rescued us from dead-end alleys. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son He loves so much.

Meditation: I don’t understand God. I know He loves me, I know He cares about me, and I know He wants the best for me. I didn’t arrive at that realization on my own. I had basic knowledge from childhood He existed. My belief was He was for weak people and in the eyes of the world, I was not weak. Having tried to overcome my addiction and compulsion via A.A. unsuccessfully I knew I had to find another way, so I started investigating the Bible, looking for a way to change my life. On my discovery, Jesus introduced Himself to me.[I can think of no other way to describe it] He opened my eyes and my heart to what could be not what was. He taught me how to live to please Him and today I am thankful that I was down low enough, out of options, and with no hope, and had to pay attention to His Way of living.

PRAYER: Just for today Lord, teach me the sense in living my life according to Your purpose. Continue to give me options for improvement so I may better serve You in the days ahead.

2022 | Day Ten | Verse for Today

You shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God, you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalm 139:13-16

God determines our development. Before we were born He knew what we would do when we would do it, and how we would do it. He also knew how He would react to it. [LOVE]

I can always count on you— God, my dependable love. Lots of people claim to be loyal and loving, but where on earth can you find one? God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to Him.

If you lived on the world’s terms, the world would love you as one of its own. But since I picked you to live on God’s terms and no longer on the world’s terms. Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle. Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder.
