2022 | Day Eleven | Discussion Starter

“Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” Matthew 18:18-20

There is safety in numbers.

Growing up I was not a very sociable person. Not because I didn’t want to be but because I really never learned growing up how to belong. My parents tried encouraging me to join clubs and events to get me to mix with others but I never really fitted in.

Recovery rescued me. I attended meetings and groups where there were people just like me. People who understood my struggles. Who were patient enough to give me time to discover who I was. Who encouraged me to discover my gifts and abilities and put them to good use.

  • What are your gifts and abilities?

  • How are you using them to help others?

Prayer: Just for today God show me the real me and use me for Your Glory.

YOU ARE NOT ON ALONE
Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”Matthew 28:19-20

YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORK IT OUT ON YOUR OWN
Be very careful to act exactly as God commands you. Don’t veer off to the right or the left. Deuteronomy 5:32

APPLY WHAT YOU LEARN
If I hadn’t come and told them all this in plain language, it wouldn’t be so bad. As it is, they have no excuse. John 15:22

2022 | Day Eleven | Morning Harmony

Your suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. God, is both tender and kind, not easily angered, immense in love, and never, never quits. Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, Is most patient, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe.  If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, He’ll help you catch your breath. Disciples so often get into trouble; and, God is there every time.

MEDITATION

Sometimes with self inflicted-pain, we have felt sorrow, shame, and blame. The ‘Good News’ is Jesus meets us right where we are. We don’t have to fix everything pre-recovery [or there would be no need for recovery] He sees our pain and offers us sanctuary and rest during our distress. He is our example of true humility. By His example, we can admit our need for God’s intervention in the things we cannot change. In John 4:34  Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.” He will give us all we need to overcome every hurdle that presents and keep us safe until we learn His will, His way of living, and implement it in our daily living.

PRAYER

Just for today Lord nourish me and nurture me in all that I do. Show me what I need to do what You want me to do and provide me all I need to do it.

2022 | Day Eleven | Verse for Today

1 Peter 5:9  Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same …………… all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith.

Sometimes we feel like we are the only people going through what we are going through. We think we have got it harder than anyone else, that our issues are too big for God to handle. 1 Peter 4:12-13  says “Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.” No gain without pain. We have all heard it but do we accept it. In the spiritual refining process, there is heat. But take heart! God has got you, He did not bring you this far to let you go and He will never leave you or abandon you.
