Step Two Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity
You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You’re blessed when you follow His directions, doing your best to find His will for your life. That’s right—you don’t go off on your own; you walk straight along the road God set. Jesus said, “The person who obeys my heavenly Father’s will is my brother and sister.” He also said, “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you.”
We know very well that we are not set right with God by rule-keeping but only through personal faith in Jesus Christ The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in God, who loves me. I am not going to go back to my old way of living. Is it not clear to you that to go back to that old life would be an abandonment of everything personal and free in my relationship with God? I refuse to do that, to repudiate God’s grace in my spiritual walk.
The proof that we love God comes when we keep His commandments and commit to following His will for our lives.
Obedience is an act of faith. It shows that you trust God’s will enough to follow it no matter how good or how bad it gets. Obedience demonstrates our willingness to follow through on what He says is best, Ous desire to have a close relationship with Him, and our trust that His way will work for our good. Obedience to God keeps us in fellowship with Him, synchronizing our lives with His will.
True obedience is about following all God’s will to the best of our ability. Psalm 42:8 says “Each day the God pours His unfailing love upon me.” Following His will on a daily basis and communicating with Him need to become the goal of our lives if we want to grow mature in our spiritual walk.
