2022 | WE ADMITTED WE WERE POWERLESS

It pleases God when we continue to remember and keeping up the traditions of the faith He teaches us. Jesus arrives in our lives right on time to make recovery happen. He doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presents himself when we are too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready.

God put his love on the line for us by offering Jesus in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. In John 15:5Jesus said “I am the Vine, you are the branches. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.”

RECOVERY REQUIRES WE RECOGNISE OUR DEPENDENCE ON HIM – Stop following false gods

RECOVERY REQUIRES WE RECOGNISE AND FOLLOW HIS WILL – Read and study the Bible – Pray and meditate on what He shares with you.

RECOVERY REQUIRES WE RECOGNISE OUR NEED TO LIVE OUR LIVES FOR HIS GLORY – It is impossible for us to recover in our own strength

God created us with a desire to live lives that reflect His thoughts and attitudes . – then sin got in the way
His thoughts and attitudes are incredibly high:

• Love your enemies
• Bless those who curse you
• Rejoice and be glad in all circumstances
– Stop sinning
Many people hate the word SIN. It suggests immorality. It is associated with SHAME.

WE CAN’T OVERCOME SIN WITHOUT GOD’S HELP

The GOOD NEWS for us in this first step is God is ready and waiting to do for us what we can’t do for ourselves.

THROUGH PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT JESUS CHRIST IS GOING TO GIVE US EVERYTHING WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES TO BE LIKE HIS.

Jesus said: “It’s what comes out of a person that pollutes: obscenities, lusts, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, depravity, deceptive dealings, carousing, mean looks, slander, arrogance, foolishness— all these are vomit from the heart. The source of your pollution.”

You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we’re in—first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone. EVERYBODEY NEEDS RECOVERY

It’s who you are, not what you say and do, that counts. ACTIONS
“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, a relation intimate and organic” SPIRITUAL GROWTH NOT PERFECTION

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine, guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us,

We’re all sin-infected, sin-contaminated. Our best efforts are grease-stained rags. WE ALL NEED HELP

• Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. RECOVERY REQUIRES RIGOROUS HONESTY

SPIRITUAL POWER COMES FROM GOD
Acts 1:8 When the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses GOD PROMISES

RECOGNISING OUR POWERESSNESS PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES

2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.
ALL WE NEED TO DO IS BELIEVE HE SI WHO HE SAYS HE IS AND TRUST HIM

GOD HAS THE AUTHORITY TO FORGIVE AND HEAL US
Matthew 9:6
Just so it’s clear, I’m the Son of Man and authorized to do either, or both.
. . .
1 Peter 1:5 God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.

• God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.
• A person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.
