In recovery and in life the best source I have found to learn the right thing from is the Bible.
Day: 3 July 2022
Matthew 3:8 It’s your life that must change, not your skin!
Keep your word even when it costs you. God changes the seasons and guides history, He raises up kings and also brings them down, he provides both intelligence and discernment. He says “I am God–yes, I haven’t changed.” All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him. God will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around Him. Psalms 15:4 ~ Daniel 2:21 ~ Malachi 3:6 ~ 2 Corinthians 3:18 ~ Philippians 3:21
Recovery is about submitting to God and allowing Him to change us from the inside out. He created everything, He calls us through the process of recovery to change ourselves and in doing so change our lives. He is calling us to get into a personal relationship with Him and through our relationship with Him learn what it means to Him to be in relationships with others. Through being in His presence He promises to make us more and more like His Son “One Day at a Time.”
