Our goal is not recovery; it is spiritual and emotional growth, demonstrated
through service. Jesus set the example of service we need to aim for. His
whole purpose in coming to earth was to serve, not to be served.
That spiritual principle—that we seek to give away what we have gained—
is an essential part of the recovery process, Today they live on as godly
examples for each of us to follow.
Prior to service, we need to make sure we have got our own lives sorted out.
Realizing mistakes don’t disqualify us from success; they provide
opportunities for learning, growth, and dependence on God.. We must do
our best to preserve ourselves for God’s service. Recovery is an important
part of this task. We need to realize that without God’s intervention we are
of no use to anyone else. Giving control and depending on God is what
we need to do if we are going to be of service to God and others in this
process we call RECOVERY
