“Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” Matthew 18:18-20

There is safety in numbers.

Growing up I was not a very sociable person. Not because I didn’t want to be but because I really never learned growing up how to belong. My parents tried encouraging me to join clubs and events to get me to mix with others but I never really fitted in.

Recovery rescued me. I attended meetings and groups where there were people just like me. People who understood my struggles. Who were patient enough to give me time to discover who I was. Who encouraged me to discover my gifts and abilities and put them to good use.

  • What are your gifts and abilities?

  • How are you using them to help others?

Prayer: Just for today God show me the real me and use me for Your Glory.

Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”Matthew 28:19-20

Be very careful to act exactly as God commands you. Don’t veer off to the right or the left. Deuteronomy 5:32

If I hadn’t come and told them all this in plain language, it wouldn’t be so bad. As it is, they have no excuse. John 15:22

2 Peter 2:20 If, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

logo_transparent_bgPsychologist Abe Marlowe says we all have five basic needs:

  • Physical
  • Safety
  • Belonging
  • Esteem
  • Self-actualization

The last mentioned warrants our brief attention. God has endowed us each with personal abilities, which can be used for good. Employing ourselves usefully

will benefit us and our families, but we have obligations to our society at large. Selfishness blocks the overflow of goodwill and chokes our motivation towards others. We cannot function successfully if we are introverts. Self-actualization depends greatly on an acceptance of God’s plan for our lives and a willingness to learn how to bring ourselves under His management. Only when we are in a controlled relationship with god will we be at peace within and able to find fulfillment. Life with a capital ‘L’ is attainable but it has two arms. One longingly reaching up to God and the other feelingly moving out to everyone else.

Many of us, having achieved recovery fall back into our old ways. We must not yield to going backward. We cannot afford to be manipulated by the past. Part of the self-actualization process is resisting temptation. God has chosen us to be winners and this makes us Satan’s target in attempts to rebuff God and defeat Him and His purpose for our lives. As we aspire to achieve the best God has for us we need to count on Him through victory.

2 Peter 2:20 When people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.

Psychologist, Abe Maslow, says we all have five basic needs:

  • Physical
  • Safety
  • Belonging
  • Esteem
  • Self-actualization

The last mentioned warrants our brief attention. God has given us each personal abilities which can be used for good. Employing ourselves usefully will benefit us individually as well as benefit our families. But, we still have an obligation to society at large. Selfishness blocks the overflow of goodwill and chokes motivation to think of others. We cannot function successfully if we are introverts. Self-actualization depends on the acceptance of God’s plan for our lives and willingness to bring ourselves under divine management. Only in a controlled relationship with God can we find peace within and fulfillment. Living Life Recovery is attainable through reaching up to Him and moving in outgoingness to everyone else.

Celebrate Victories

God’s work involves many different people with a variety of gifts and abilities. We can become useful members of God’s team through performing our own special roles and setting aside our desire of personal glory.

Today the staff and order of Melbourne 614 shared together in a meal, celebrating what God has done in and through the various ministries run from 69 Bourke Street, Melbourne. The most important ingredient of all being individual and team relationship with Him

1 Corinthians 3:9 We are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
