Open up before God, keep nothing back; he’ll do whatever needs to be done: He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon. Psalm 37:5
Even though we don’t admit it, we all want the approval of those closest to us. Our parents, siblings, spouses, children. We tell ourselves and them it’s not important, whilst we cringe inside. Desperately wanting them to say they approve of us, how we live and what we do. It’s in our human nature to want to be accepted.
When people approve of us, we feel good, but that should not cloud our thinking or affect the decisions we make in life.
We should not live to please people – especially in our spiritual lives. Be like Jesus. Know what others think of you, but don’t put your trust in it.
Put your trust in God.
John 5:41-42 “I don’t want praise from you or any other human.”
Today I believe that God loves me and directs my path, but I long for the approval of others. For someone, anyone to tell me they approve of me and my life. More soon ..,,,
Lamentations 3:22-24 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!
-Vernon Howard : “A truly strong person does not need the approval of others any more than a lion needs the approval of sheep.”
