Everybody wants to be important. We all want to be identified in the right groups by the right people.
John 1:15-18 John pointed him [Jesus] out and called, “This is the One! The One I told you was coming after me but in fact was ahead of me. He has always been ahead of me, has always had the first word.” We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift after gift. We got the basics from Moses, and then this exuberant giving and receiving, This endless knowing and understanding– all this came through Jesus, the Messiah. No one has ever seen God, not so much as a glimpse. This one-of-a-kind God-Expression, who exists at the very heart of the Father, has made him plain as day.
Give glory to God. Haven’t you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that he lives within you? Your own body does not belong to you. For God has bought you with a great price. So use every part of your body to give glory back to God because he owns it. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Christ came and preached peace to you outsiders and peace to us insiders. He treated us as equals, and so made us equals. Through Him, we both share the same Spirit and have equal access to the Father. That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all–irrespective of how we got here–in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day–a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.
Colossians 1:16 Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven and earth, the things we can see and the things we can’t; the spirit world with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities; all were made by Christ for his own use and glory.
Romans 8:1 Those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment.
Have you ever considered the consequences of God’s judgment?
Obadiah 1:15 “The day of the Lord is near for all the nations. Others will do to you what you have done to them.
You will be paid back for what you have done.”
We are all going to be held accountable for what we have done and be treated accordingly.
How do you overcome God judgment? It is in the verse above take recovery seriously. Get into a relationship with God and you will be saved,
Salvation is our assurance of God’s presence within us. Matthew 1:21says “She [Mary] is going to have a son. You must give him the name Jesus. That’s because he will save his people from their sins.”
Psalms 34:18 The Lord is close to those whose hearts have been broken. He saves those whose spirits have been crushed.
There are verses in the Bible that concern me when I first read them. That’s why the Bible needs to be investigated and not just read.
This verse is talking about God’s authority over us.
There is no point in pursuing spiritual recovery and growth without letting ‘God be God’
Growing up I attended Sunday School. I belonged to the Boys Brigade. I learned who God was and I learned who Jesus was but I never learned about God’s authority over me.
One of my biggest problems as a teenager and in my early adulthood was acknowledging and accepting authority.
- Are you willing to let God be God?
God Bless you!
Luke 6:20-23 Jesus looked at his disciples and said: God will bless you people who are poor. His kingdom belongs to you! God will bless you hungry people. You will have plenty to eat! God will bless you people who are crying. You will laugh! God will bless you when others hate you and won’t have anything to do with you. God will bless you when people insult you and say cruel things about you, all because you are a follower of the Son of Man.
