Legalism is faith gone wrong. It puts the emphasis on doing what you are allowed to do instead of following God.
John 4:13-14 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst–not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”
I’m thirsty for God-alive. I wonder, “Will I ever make it– arrive and drink in God’s presence?” Half-starved and parched with thirst, staggering and stumbling, on the brink of exhaustion.
Seek God while he’s here to be found, pray to him while he’s close at hand. “You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever.”
Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if he’s thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.
Psalms 42:2 ~ Psalms 107:5 ~ Isaiah 55:6 ~ Matthew 5:6 ~ John 6:35 ~ Romans 12:20-21
The Lord God called you to repent, to weep and mourn, to shave your heads in sorrow for your sins, and to wear clothes made of sackcloth to show your remorse. But instead, you sing and dance and play, and feast and drink. “Let us eat, drink, and be merry,” you say: “What’s the difference, for tomorrow we die.” Isaiah 22:11-13
We have experienced tedious hours of monotony, Lots of times of wastefulness. Frequent periods of cop-out, agony of repetitious failure. We have shown continuous inability to find something better. Evidence we are fatigued in a number of areas physical health, mental health, exhaustion, spiritual health is not hard to find.
It is tiring for us to keep going in circles on the merry go to nowhere. We have been caught up in a web from which there seems to be no escape. Called upon by God to repent, and turn away from the madness, we don’t know how to, or what it means. Instead we continue in the insanity we know, continually spinning in our mental haze.
But deal with our weariness, waywardness and wretchedness is exactly what He is calling us to do. He wants to give us a new appetite and zeal for living life according to His purpose. Our character will have to change. We need to break with the past, we need to develop new attitudes and behaviours. He will not force change upon us but He promises to support us and help us if we decide to.
