Set A Good Example
DAILY REFLECTION #279
Romans 16:19 While there has never been any question about your honesty in these matters–I couldn’t be more proud of you!–I want you also to be smart, making sure every “good” thing is the real thing. Don’t be gullible in regard to smooth-talking evil. Stay alert like this.
READ: Romans 16:17-29
As we grow spiritually through recovery other people notice. We should be happy about that. Through our change in attitudes, actions, and behaviours other people should be seeing us change and be looking to follow our examples.
I am sure you have heard the saying “Don’t tell me show me.” What we say and do in our lives from here on in is important. We are responsible for following Christ’s example and we are responsible for setting the right example for others. The best definition of insanity I have ever heard is “Doing the same thing expecting different results.” Recovery is about changed lives.
Prayer: Lord help me to set the right examples through doing what’s right
HAVE YOU CHANGED BECAUSE OF YOUR RECOVERY?
WATTEXAMPLES ARE YOU SETTING FOR OTHERS?
The word has gotten around. Your lives are echoing the Master’s Word, not only in the provinces but all over the place. The news of your faith in God is out. We don’t even have to say anything anymore–you’re the message! People come up and tell us how you received us with open arms, how you deserted the dead idols of your old life so you could embrace and serve God, the true God. 1 Thessalonians 1:8-9
I’m finding my way down the road of right living, but how long before you show up? I’m doing the very best I can, and I’m doing it at home, where it counts. Psalms 101:2
Let the Word of Christ–the Message–have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Colossians 3:16
