God’s Will
Do any of you need wisdom? Ask God for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to everyone. So he will give you wisdom.

1 John 5:14 How bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening.
The emphasis here is on God’s will, not our will. When we communicate with God, we don’t demand what we want; rather we discuss with Him what He wants for us. If we align our prayers to His will, He will listen; and we can be certain that if He listens, He will give us a definite answer.
Not always the answer we want but always the answer we need. I have often heard people say “I prayed but nothing is happening.” Really? Sometimes the inability to see God’s response is based on our own expectations and desires.
There are things in life we all want, some of which are not right for us according to God’s plan for our lives. A lesson I have had to learn in recovery is that God’s agenda doesn’t always match with mine and sometimes like any loving Father He chooses to say nothing. Not because He is speechless of has nothing to say but sometimes because He knows we aren’t listening anyway.
Psalms 27:14 Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God.
Believing God requires faith! Faith puts us in right relationship with God. Faith accompanies obedience to Gods will.
Honor and enjoy your Creator while you’re still young Before the years take their toll and your vigor wanes Before your vision dims and the world blurs And the winter years keep you close to the fire. Ecclesiastes 12:1-2
This is a call to action to the young. Today my son Duncan turns 23. At the age of 23, I entered recovery for the first time. At the age of 23, I began a journey that made me who I am today. Now at the age of 55 (56 in May) the urge to seek and to do God’s will is so more urgent. Today my life is inspired to ‘Be different and make a difference.’ So others might see the Lord in me and seek Him as they walk the road to recovery in His presence.
Psalms 43:5 Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God– soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.
I ADMIT THAT MY LIFE IS A MESS
AND I AM OUT OF CONTROL
HOPE IS FOUND IN TRUSTING GOD
None of those who have faith in God will ever be disgraced for trusting him. Psalms 25:3
HOPE IS FOUND IN GOD’S WORD
May I never forget your words, for they are my only hope. Psalms 119:43
HOPE IS FOUND IN SEEKING GOD’S WILL AND OBEYING IT
We know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans. Romans 8:28
Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you. 1 Peter 2:9
Incredible! I am important to God. I am part of His plan. Who would ever beliebved that back in ‘The Day’ Certainly not me. But my eyes have been opened to the reason God sent Jesus to die. It was for me, because he loves me so much. He did it to show me how much.
I thank Him so musch for interening in my crazy, mixed up life. I can never be the same old person again. I want to be deeply moved everytime I think of the ‘Cross of Calvary.’ Then to go forward, entrusting my life to Him, revelling in my relationship with Him.
Me – a sinner, opposed to God and his ways, losing ground and getting nowhere as I wandered the earth, just existing. Me, who through faith in Him had my life transformed and I’m now a child of God.
He has a plan for me and I am going to seek His will and learn what His plan is. Then with His help and his guidance I am going to live it out to the best of my ablity – TODAY!
Here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life–your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life–and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. I’m speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me, and especially as I have responsibilities in relation to you. Living then, as every one of you does, in pure grace, it’s important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him. In this way we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we’re talking about is Christ’s body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn’t amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, Romans 12:1-5
