2022 | Day 10 | Morning Harmony

If we are God-created, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to think we could create a god as we understand Him, does it? The unknown is now known. In the generations before us, God let all the different nations go their own way, but even then He didn’t leave them without a clue. The basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see. We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. God rescued us from dead-end alleys. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son He loves so much.

Meditation: I don’t understand God. I know He loves me, I know He cares about me, and I know He wants the best for me. I didn’t arrive at that realization on my own. I had basic knowledge from childhood He existed. My belief was He was for weak people and in the eyes of the world, I was not weak. Having tried to overcome my addiction and compulsion via A.A. unsuccessfully I knew I had to find another way, so I started investigating the Bible, looking for a way to change my life. On my discovery, Jesus introduced Himself to me.[I can think of no other way to describe it] He opened my eyes and my heart to what could be not what was. He taught me how to live to please Him and today I am thankful that I was down low enough, out of options, and with no hope, and had to pay attention to His Way of living.

PRAYER: Just for today Lord, teach me the sense in living my life according to Your purpose. Continue to give me options for improvement so I may better serve You in the days ahead.

2022 | Day Nine | Morning Harmony

Don’t let anyone divert you from the truth. It’s the person who acts right who is right, just as we see it lived out in Jesus. Once you’re convinced that he is right and righteous, you’ll recognize that all who practice righteousness are God’s true children. Surely you know that Christ showed up in order to get rid of sin. There is no sin in Him, and sin is not part of His program. If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. If we claim that we experience a shared life with Him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we’re obviously lying through our teeth—we’re not living what we claim.

Sin is Rebellion: Living out our attitudes and behaviors contrary to God’s will.

God plans what is good for us. We suffer from fear of the unknown, even with this knowledge. How often have you said out loud God’s got this!” whilst thinking to your self “I hope He has?” God wants us to ‘follow Jesus’ He sent Him to earth not just to die for us but to teach us how to live here on earth. Sometimes I think we are so focused on the latter to live our lives today. Our life here on earth is a series of appointments and events. In which we have a huge amount of freedom to choose. seeking God’s will through prayer, meditation, discussion with others, and examining all the circumstances in our lives helps us to make the right choices and to follow where He leads.

God may not have revealed all His plans for you now, but He has revealed everything you need to know to live life according to His purpose today.

STOP and look how far you have come.

In order to discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it, and improve my relationship with Him,
I will spend time daily in prayer, reading the Bible, and meditating on it.

Galatians 4:9 Now you know God. Even better, God knows you. So why are you turning back to those weak and worthless beliefs? Do you want to be slaves to them all over again?

Change in our lives is not always easy. In fact, most of the time it’s hard. And it doesn’t usually happen quickly. That’s why recovery is a process. There will be times in the process when you will feel like throwing in the towel. Days when you think it is all too hard. I want to encourage you today to keep going, you are doing well.

If you are feeling like that right now take time today to stop and look back. Take inventory on where you came from, where you are now and how you got here, to this point.

Change What You Say

HAVING IDENTIFIED THE PEOPLE, I HAVE HARMED, I WILL NOW GO AND MAKE RESTITUTION TO THEM. UNLESS TO DO IS GOING TO CAUSE THEM OR OTHER PAIN OR SUFFERING.

A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. Matthew 12:35

A good person produces good words! What we say should please God. When you speak to others would you speak differently if you thought God was examining every word you said? Would He approve of your words and your thoughts?

As we progress in recovery we need to change the way we think and the way we speak. I used to swear a lot. I don’t know why I just did. And I used to think all the wrong thoughts. Until I came into a relationship with the Holy Spirit, started to check myself and ask myself the question: “Would God approve?” We change what we say when we allow God’s love to guide our day.”

YOUR WORDS REVEAL YOUR MOTIVES TO GOD
Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.” Matthew 12:36-37

YOUR WORDS CAN HELP OR HINDER OTHERS

A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper-fire. Proverbs 15:1

SOMETIMES IT’S BEST TO SAY NOTHING

Out or In?

…. you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

Recovery is a process we choose to follow. Are you out or are you in? You can’t be a little bit in recovery, any more than a woman can be a little bit pregnant. It is an all-or-nothing commitment.

The Bible goes on in 1 Peter 2:10-12 to say “Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

  • Because you have changed – live lile it:
    – Stop doing the things you know are sperating you from knowing and following God’s will for your life.
    – Stop hiding who you are, your God-given identity and show people His loe and His power through the changes He has already made in you.
    – Encourage others by your actions to prepare for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ by your example of right living through the power of God mercy in your life.

Commit to the process of recovery. And, in humbly ask Him to remove any blocks that are stopping you from becoming all He is calling you to be through faith.

When God Says Go

Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”

Effective faith in our lives depends on God. It depends on us having total dependence on God and a willingness to do in our lives what He wants us to do.

Over the years of my recovery my life as taken many turns. Not necessarily the way I have wanted it to but always the way God intended it to. There have been times when I have thought to myself and asked God “What are You doing?”

One of the most important character traits we all need to learn in recovery is ’ availability ’ God at some point in your recovery is going to ask you to go where you don’t want to go or don’t understand why you have to go. In those times how you decide will affect the rest of your life and your recovery moving forward.

If God asked you today to move to an unknown destination would you go?

Where Is God in Your Walk?

Psalm 121:1 I look up to the mountains. Where does my help come from?

Bible based recovery is not for everyone. God in His wisdom communicates His message to us in many different ways.

For me it began with rehab. Not Bible based, A.A. based. After which I relapsed. My second attempt was a farm rehab run by The Salvation Army. In the first group meeting I attended the were discussing Step Eleven “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God. Praying only for knowledge of His will for me and the power to carry it out.”

On that day my life changed! As I realised my failure to include God in the process of my recovery.

  • Where is God in the process of your recovery?
  • If He is not included will you include Him now?

Show mercy to those who doubt. Jude 1:22

Take a good look at yourselves to see if you are really believers. Test yourselves. Don’t you realize that Christ Jesus is in you? Unless, of course, you fail the test! 2 Corinthians 13:5

We have faith. So we understand that everything was made when God commanded it. That’s why we believe that what we see was not made out of what could be seen. Hebrews 11:3

“Have faith in God,” Jesus said. Mark 11:22

Prayer: God, right now I ask You to be involved in every area of the process of my recovery.
