2022 | Day Eleven | Morning Harmony

Your suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. God, is both tender and kind, not easily angered, immense in love, and never, never quits. Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, Is most patient, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe.  If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, He’ll help you catch your breath. Disciples so often get into trouble; and, God is there every time.

MEDITATION

Sometimes with self inflicted-pain, we have felt sorrow, shame, and blame. The ‘Good News’ is Jesus meets us right where we are. We don’t have to fix everything pre-recovery [or there would be no need for recovery] He sees our pain and offers us sanctuary and rest during our distress. He is our example of true humility. By His example, we can admit our need for God’s intervention in the things we cannot change. In John 4:34  Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.” He will give us all we need to overcome every hurdle that presents and keep us safe until we learn His will, His way of living, and implement it in our daily living.

PRAYER

Just for today Lord nourish me and nurture me in all that I do. Show me what I need to do what You want me to do and provide me all I need to do it.

LET GO OF RESENTMENT

Now you are at a turning point in your relationship with God and others how do you feel?

HAVING IDENTIFIED THE PEOPLE, I HAVE HARMED, I WILL NOW GO AND MAKE RESTITUTION TO THEM. UNLESS TO DO IS GOING TO CAUSE THEM OR OTHER PAIN OR SUFFERING.

Matthew 5:23Suppose you are offering your gift at the altar. And you remember that your brother has something against you.”

This scripture in Matthew goes on to say “If you remember someone has something against you leave your gift and go and make peace, then come back and offer your gift.” That tells me the process of making restitution in continued spiritual growth is a big one.

This is not always an easy step to take. To let go of all resentment. To give it to God and then go and make peace with the people you resent goes against everything we have ever done in life before. But it is necessary because if we don’t resentment will lead us back down that path of despair.

Prayer: God grant me the strength to let go of resentment. To trust you as I go to those I resent repairing relationships

#2228 Why Recovery?

4oDaysFor some of us past sins, mistakes, selfishness and questioning is holding us back from moving forward in our lives. We may have legitimate reasons for this but continuing to hold on to the pain and refusing to face the truth about our lives is stunting our spiritual growth and maturity. It’s important for us to understand by starting to work through these things, we can, with God’s help, begin to find the courage and strength we need to change our lives. Read More

#2073 The Word For Recovery

The WORD For Recovery

God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge–a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete. Because of Christ–dying that death, shedding that blood–you who were once out of it altogether are in on everything.
“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure.

“Don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’–out of this world, so to speak. You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.” And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take. If we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin. If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense.

God’s Discipline Leads Us Closer Too Him

2 Corinthians 7:8-9 I am no longer sorry that I sent that letter to you, though I was very sorry for a time, realizing how painful it would be to you. But it hurt you only for a little while. Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you but because the pain turned you to God. It was a good kind of sorrow you felt, the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so that I need not come to you with harshness.

Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’

Bless Your Enemies

Luke 6:28 Bless those who call down curses on you. And pray for those who treat you badly.

This I found hard to get my head around until I started to understand, most of the people I was holding resentments against didn’t even know it.

The only person we destroy when we hold onto resentment is ourselves.

Recovery is going to highlight in our lies some bad situations we have been in. We can get resentful and feel sorry for ourselves but we don’t need to stay that way. We can remove resentment from our lives by honestly expressing our pain and shame to God, forgiving others and concentrating on changing ourselves.

  • Are you content with who you are today?
  • Are there resentments you need to let go of?

Prayer: God help me today to let go of my past and concentrate on being all You want me to be.

Good Question!

“Wicked people rebel against the light. They refuse to acknowledge its ways or stay in its paths.Again and again He rescued them, but they chose to rebel against Him. It is painful to be the parent of a fool; there is no joy for the father of a rebel.

God said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me like dirt? How long refuse to trust me? And with all these signs I’ve done among them!

Self-Inflicted Pain

Your evil ways will get you a sound thrashing, that’s what you’ll get. You’ll pay dearly for your disloyal ways. Take a long, hard look at what you’ve done and its bitter results. Was it worth it to have walked out on your God?” Jeremiah 2:19
