What The Bible Says
Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand–shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Quotable Recovery
WE HAVE TO GIVE IT AWAY TO KEEP IT.
GOD HOLDS US ACCOUNTABLE FOR SHARING WHAT HE DOES IN OUR LIVES If you refuse to warn the wicked when I want you to tell them, ‘You are under the penalty of death; therefore repent and save your life,’ they will die in their sins, but I will punish you. I will demand your blood for theirs. But if you warn them, and they keep on sinning and refuse to repent, they will die in their sins, but you are blameless—you have done all you could. Ezekiel 3:18-19
LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.” Matthew 5:14
ALWAYS BE READY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT GOD IS DOING FOR YOU Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master. Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you’re living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy. 1 Peter 3:15

#2183 Let Your Light Shine
1 Peter 2:9 You are a people who belong to God. All of this is so that you can sing his praises. He brought you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Through the process of recovery God brought me out of the darkness and into The Light. That light is the wonderful knowledge of what He did for me by sending His Son to die for my sin. The longer I spend in recovery, the more I understand what it means to belong to God. Slowly in my life the truth has become clear and through learning to obey it I understand more and more His purpose for my life and want to introduce others to His love and saving grace.
Relationship with the Holy Spirit saved my life and I want to be a beacon of His truth that introduces everyone in my sphere of influence to Him.
- What is standing in the way of you becoming all that God wants you to be?
Verse of The Day
Proverbs 4:18-19 The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine. But the road of wrongdoing gets darker and darker– travelers can’t see a thing; they fall flat on their faces.
Let Your Light Shine
Matthew 5:14-16 You are the world’s light—a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.
Let Your Light Shine!
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand–shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
In Him abiding, my all confiding
The ancient God is home on a foundation of everlasting arms. He drove out the enemy before you and commanded, “Destroy!” That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure. The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
God will never lead us anywhere without equipping us to cope with it. Many of the blessings in recovery come through times of uncertainty and testing. Success comes
through perseverance and trusting God plan will be achieved in our life through faith.
Daily Reflection October 29, 2016
SIMPLE BUT NOT ALWAYS EASY
REPENT
Matthew 4:17 “Change your life. God’s kingdom is here.”
FOLLOW JESUS
Matthew 4:19 Jesus said to them, “Come with me”
LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE
Matthew 5:16 “By opening to others, you’ll prompt people to open with God”
RECONCILE WITH OTHERS
Matthew 5:23 -24 “This is how I want you to conduct yourself in these matters. If you enter your place of worship and, about to make an offering, you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, abandon your offering, leave immediately, go to this friend and make things right. Then and only then, come back and work things out with God.”
You have been called to SHINE!
Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
The world can be broken up into two groups of people:
BELIEVERS: People who are indwelt by God because of Jesus. who realize their spiritual helplessness, show sorrow over sin, and who are hungry for God’s righteousness, merciful and pure in heart because of Jesus,
UNBELIEVERS: People who are proud, self-sufficient, and do not understand their own unrighteousness before a Holy God.
Being a believer means having God’s nature within:
2 Peter 1:4 We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.
Believers must interact with this world of corruption and darkness in order to act bas salt and light:
Matthew 5:13-14 “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavours of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.”Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.
