What The Bible Says

Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand–shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

What The Bible Says

I followed orders, stood there and took it while they beat me, held steady while they pulled out my beard, Didn’t dodge their insults, faced them as they spit in my face. And the Master, God, stays right there and helps me, so I’m not disgraced. Isaiah 50:6-7

Some people will oppose our new way of living. We need to stand up to them and keep moving forward in the process of spiritual maturity. #Help #Stand #Forward

Verse For Today

Galatians 5:1 Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.

  • Christ came to set us free—not free to do whatever we want because that would lead us back into slavery to our selfish desires. Rather, thanks to Christ, we are now free and able to do what was impossible before—to live unselfishly.

What The Bible Says

Jeremiah 6:16 God’s Message yet again: “Go stand at the crossroads and look around. Ask for directions to the old road, The tried and true road. Then take it. Discover the right route for your souls.”

If we don’t stand for something we’ll fall for anything.

John 8:32You will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.”

Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves.

They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous

Jesus is the One True Higher Power. He is the truth that sets us free. He is the perfect standard of ‘right living’  and He doesn’t give us the freedom to do what we want. As we serve God He does free us to be all God has called us to be.

Matthew 5:8 TLB  “Happy are those whose hearts are pure, for they shall see God.”

If we don’t stand for something we’ll fall for anything. And, if we don’t continue to walk in freedom we will relapse into our old ways of thinking, acting and reacting. We need to act on the parts of God’s plan and purpose we already know as we wait in anticipation for what else He has in store for us,

Stand Firm

Galatians 5:1 Christ has set us free. He wants us to enjoy freedom. So stand firm. Don’t let the chains of slavery hold you again.

What have you learned through the recovery process to help you better relate to others?

Freedom is not free. It comes at a cost and that cost is to keep growing spiritually and to serve others.

Jesus came to set us free, not to do what we want because that would lead us back to our addictions, compulsions and selfish desires. Thanks to Jesus we are now free and able to live lives we could only dream of before. And do things that were impossible for us in the past. Anyone who says “I am now free to do what I want.” Is on the worn path and is heading in the wrong direction.

Recovery is about learning new ways of living and relating to others so they too will want to live their lives in relationship with Jesus.

Prayer: Lord help me today to relate to others the same way you relate to them.

About Freedom

Were you a slave? Slavery is no roadblock to obeying and believing. I don’t mean you’re stuck and can’t leave. If you have a chance at freedom, go ahead and take it. God does care when you use your freedom carelessly in a way that leads a Christian still vulnerable to those old associations to be thrown off track. God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you. This signet from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life. Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules.

A Continual Process of Spiritual Growth

Spiritual growthtGod’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”  Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. Stop deceiving yourselves.  You are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. What’s more, you are His holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

Standing Room Only

Ephesians 6:11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan.

In recovery, there is no space for neutrality. We are called to stand up and stand out. To be prepared to take a firm stand against the evils of this world. There a lot of sickness in society. People believing that wrong is right and doing it regardless of the consequences. In Jeremiah 18:8 God says “if they repent of their wicked lives, I will think twice and start over with them.”

Repentance still remains the commanding message of our Lord. Are we ready to get into action to uphold His standards in this fallen world in which we live? Are we allying ourselves to his cause? To save sinners. That is why He came. That is why He endured the cross and that is why He rose again on the third day. To teach us with God ‘All things are possible.’

Discovery is Potent with Possibilities

Ecclesiastes 8:16-17 When I applied my heart to know wisdom and to see the business that is done on earth, even though one sees no sleep day or night, then I saw all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. For though a man labors to discover it, yet he will not find it; moreover, though a wise man attempts to know it, he will not be able to find it.

Even if he had access to all the world’s wisdom, the wisest man would know very little. No one can fully understand God and all that He has done for us. There are always more questions than answers. But the unknown should not overshadow our hope, faith, or love because we know we have a Higher Power who is in control. We can put our trust in him. Don’t let what you don’t know about the future destroy the purpose God has for you today.

As we mature spiritually ‘One Day at a Time’ and discover more of what God has done, is doing and will do in our lives the possibilities are endless.  Matthew 19:26 Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
