2022 | Day Twelve | Morning Harmony

Today, please listen; don’t turn a deaf ear as you did through your addiction and compulsions. What do you think will happen if you turn on God, spit on the sacrifice that Jesus, and insult this most graciousHoly Spirit? Do you think we can risk neglecting this opportunity from God? This magnificent salvation? Delivered in person, then accurately passed on to us by those who heard it from Him. The promise of resting in Him directing us to God’s goal for us, we need to be careful that we’re not disqualified. The wise watch their steps and avoid relapse; fools are headstrong and reckless and end up making bad choices that lead to mistakes.

Our own instincts are led by opportunities of personal gain. So many of our problems are self-imposed by our thinking, The Bible says we character change is initiated by the ‘RENEWING OF OUR MINDS’ In other words ‘we need to learn to think differently’ Our moods and our thoughts may be tempted by the pursuit of the wrong things. Ecclesiastes 10:12-13 The words of a wise person are gracious. The talk of a fool self-destructs— He starts out talking nonsense And ends up spouting insanity and evil. The second step of Alcoholics Anonymous talks about God restoring us to sanity. Philippians 2:13 says “That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.” In order to experience the energy, God brings to we need to begin fixing the stinking thinking.

Just for today, I will think before I speak and try to look at things from God’s point of view. I will try not to allow stinking thinking to make me do or say things I rely on at a later date.

2022 | Day 1 |Morning Harmony

We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails. Form your purpose by asking for counsel, then carry it out using all the help you can get. God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest—what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living,

Too often we think the answer is within us. We think we know all the answers. Here is my question for today “If you have all the answers how did you end up in recovery?” We won’t discover the best way of living by living by our own knowledge and desires. God wants to bring out the best in us. To do that He expects us to give our best to Him. at the beginning of 2022 if we want to move forward spiritually, mentally, and physically we need to decide today to commit our lives to God’s care. Recovery is about the discovery of our true identity. We require help to discover who we really are and to face up to some of the truths about ourselves. God knows what we need to go through and he is committed to equipping us to go through it, if we are.

Lord just for today help me to commit to Your plan fro my life and listen for Your voice as I go through the day. Show me what I need to know and need to do to discover Your purpose and carry it out.

2021 | Day 363 | Morning Harmony

My troubles turned out all for the best— they forced me to learn from your textbook. Truth from your mouth means more to me than striking it rich in a gold mine. Anyone signing up for the kingdom of God has to go through plenty of hard times. It is better to be confronted by the God now than to face a fiery confrontation later. Distress that drives us to God turns us around. Gets us back to His way of thinking and behaving. Jesus said “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life

Think about when you first came to recovery/ How you felt. How you responded to the process and your own progress in those early day’s. If you are like me God’s Word and personal relationship with the Holy spirit mad all the difference in you attitude, belief and behaviour. You relaised God’s way of Living Life Recovery, though difficult at times and confronting more often than not was a better way fo living than you could have imagined for yourself. You realized by facing the things He placed before you and deealing with them with His help life got better and you were better equipped to live with it. Jesus offers us all a batter way of living than the lives we used to live. He encourages us to live by His example, in His presence so we can grow spiritually on a daily basis and be used by Him to help others to do the same.

Thank you Lord for all you have done in and through my life up to this point. As I apporach this ‘New Beginning’ this new year equip me to keep ‘Moving Forward’ open to being used by You in this mission of introducing others to You and what You8 can and will do for them.

Looking For God’s Love

God’s eye is on those who respect him, the ones who are looking for his love. Psalms 33:18

God Rejoices when we follow His will, live our lives in every area to His plan and purpose. Now I know that is not easy but that is why it is called ‘Spiritual Growth’ None of us got to the point in our lives overnight where we thought ‘I think I will follow God’ It was a process of trial and error where we tried things and sometimes failed, but we never stopped trying.

It says in 1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to live in God’s light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark.

One of the identifications of being on the right track in recovery is how we treat and react to others. Through us God wants to love others who still suffer from the negative effects of addiction and compulsion. A very wise mentor of mine told me many years ago “Archie because of who you are. because of your experience, strength, and hope you have been given the ability to reach people that won’t even talk to me.” God’s love not only sets us free it prepares us to be used by him to make a difference in the lives of others.

Thought For Today

I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered. All the soldiers here, and everyone else too, found out that I’m in jail because of this Messiah. That piqued their curiosity, and now they’ve learned all about him. Not only that, but most of the Christians here have become far more sure of themselves in the faith than ever, speaking out fearlessly about God, about the Messiah. Philippians 1:12-14

Paul suffered much for being a Christian. He was thrown in jail but refused to let incarceration destroy his faith. Instead, he saw it as an opportunity for further witness Ephesians 6:20  I am in chains now for preaching this message from God. But pray that I will keep on speaking out boldly for him even here in prison, as I should. Philippians 1:12  I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered.

Often when we come into recovery we think we have got the rough end of the stick. Feel sorry for ourselves that we have had to give up our drug of choice. (even though it was destroying our lives and slowly killing us) Our recovery can become the launching pad, from which God wants to move us forward in becoming all that He is calling us to be. I have heard so many times in my spiritual recovery “God wants to use your deepest hurts as His weapon of reaching others who still suffer.” How true that is! The doors He has opened for me in my life, in ministry, and in mission are doors I could never have opened on my own. And, He wants to do the same for you.

God is waiting to deliver us from the damaging echoes of our past. He is just waiting for us to ask Him/ It says in the Bible “You don’t get cause you haven’t asked.” Take time now to ask God to help you to surrender to His will and help you to overcome the things from your past that are holding you back. Stopping you from becoming all that He wants you to be and doing all that He wants you to do.

After you have spent time praying live this week as if God has already answered your prayer. STOP being ashamed and afraid of the fact that you are in recovery. You are a child of the all-powerful God and He has not brought you this far to drop you. START appreciating where He has brought you from and where He is taking you to.

What The Bible Says

The basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. Romans 1:19-20

Knowing that God exists is not enough. People must learn that God is loving and that He sent His Son to demonstrate His love for us.

Romans 5:8 God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.

People must be shown how to accept God’s forgiveness of their sins.

Romans 10:14 How can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them?

Look for the Similarities not the differences.

Those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. Isaiah 40:31

Believe God can and will help you recover.

When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive–right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s Cross. Colossians 2:13-14

Don’t just learn, experience.
Don’t just read, absorb.
Don’t just change, transform.
Don’t just relate, advocate.
Don’t just promise, prove.
Don’t just criticize, encourage.
Don’t just think, ponder.
Don’t just take, give.
Don’t just see, feel.
Don’t just dream, do.
Don’t just hear, listen.
Don’t just talk, act.
Don’t just tell, show.
Don’t just exist, live.”

Don’t Let Emotions Lead

Proverbs 25:11 The right word at the right time is like a custom-made piece of jewelry.

We need to learn to think before we speak. Doesn’t sound hard bit isn’t always that easy in practice when we allow our emotions to lead our mouth.

I can remember a number of times during my recovery where I have let my emotions lead my mouth and from experience it’s disastrous. In the process of recovery, we need to learn to take emotional pauses. Times where we just STOP! and take stock of what is going on, how we feel about it and how we should react to it.

I have never had anyone complain to me for saying to them “Can I get back to you on that?”

Payer: Lord,  help me today not to let my emotions lead my mouth.
