The Word For Recovery

Don’t worry! You are more valuable to him than many sparrows. “If anyone publicly acknowledges me as his friend, I will openly acknowledge him as my friend before my Father in heaven. But if anyone publicly denies me, I will openly deny him before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:31-33
The WORD For Recovery

Friend of God

Proverbs 18:24 Even a man who has many companions can be destroyed. But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

I am a friend of God: It is unlike any other friendship I have ever been in. I trust Him completely and I know no matter what happens in my life, even when I get it wrong He will not let me down, criticize me or hurt me, Because He loves me, unconditionally.

Friendship involves loyalty. For many of us we haven’t received a lot of that in the circles we have mixed in
pre-recovery. But as Bob Dylan says “The times they are a changing.”

He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother and I am glad He calls me His friend.

  • Are you a friend of God’s?
  • How often do you get together?

Status

It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free–signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.  Ephesians 1:13-14

Recovery requires Holy Spirit interaction in our daily living. Jesus Christ is alive, in heaven. Following His crucifixion and resurrection, He ascended to heaven. But before He told His disciples John 14:16 I will ask the Father. And he will give you another friend to help you and to be with you forever.

On the day I knelt at a mercy seat in a rehab in 1989 I felt the Holy Spirit fill me and I knew my life would never be the same again.

The Holy Spirit transforms us from within. It Is by faith every day we receive His power to do everything we need to do to recover.

  •  Have you invited Jesus into your life yet?
  • Will you invite Him now?

You and help me to stay loyal to it.

Devotions

Exodus 33:12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have told me to lead these people, but you did not say whom you would send with me. You have said to me, ‘I know you very well, and I am pleased with you.’

Devotional time should be one on one time with our closest friend, Jesus. God and Moses talked face to face as friends. God choose Moses and in doing so appointed him to the position of friend.

For us Jesus called His disciples and, by extension us, His followers FRIEND in John 5:15.

I don’t know about you but I enjoy spending one on one time with my friend, doing what we like to do and sharing life together.
