Colossians 3:12 You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient.
God chose me! Because He loves me dearly, God chose me. What He asks me to do in return is to be gentle and patient. Two characteristics that I need to work on constantly.
I am not naturally a gentle person. I call a spade a spade and have been known to be more direct with some people as I probably should have been. I am not naturally patient. Some of the most frustrating times I have experienced in recovery have been when I thought I knew exactly what God wanted and He took too long to make it happen. We all need to understand, myself included recovery is a process that develops in God’s time for His glory.
- Are pride and impatience stopping you being and doing all God wants from you?
Philippians 1:9 I pray that your love will grow more and more. And let it be based on knowledge and understanding.
God reveals truth to people who will act on it. Some people can’t understand the truth because they are not ready for it. When you go to talk to people about repairing relationships don’t be surprised id they don’t understand when you talk about God and what He is doing in your life. Be patient with them and remember because you are in recovery doesn’t mean everyone else is.
Take time to pray that the Holy Spirit will open their minds and their hearts to receive the truth and to act on it. And take time before meeting with anyone to read what the Bible says about repairing relationships and making amends.
- Have you read what the Bible says about making amends, restitution and forgiving others?

You will have many kinds of trouble. But God gives you a reason to be very
happy. Remember that we are saved because our He is patient. You did not choose Him. He chose you. And He gave you this work: to go and produce fruit–fruit that will last. Then the He will give you anything you ask for in my His name. He is with you, and He will protect you everywhere you go. He will bring you back to where he wants you to be. He will not leave you until he has done what He has promised to do in and through your life.
